Schemer Seven: Bathtubs

Total immersion: A stand-alone bathtub is often the focal point of the bathroom. However choosing a beautiful bath can be difficult with so many options for both form and function. Here are some Schemer suggestions.

1 Glass - concrete soft


Definitely one of the most interesting baths designed in recent years, Concrete Soft is the result of collaboration by Italy’s design lab Glass and concrete manufacturer Il Cantiere, who wanted to give the freestanding tub a ‘live and organic’ shape.

2 Bisazza Bagno - Nendo

Bisazza Bagno

Tokyo’s Nendo Studio designed this pure and simple bath tub, for Italian brand Bisazza Bagno, with external storage boxes in Larch wood. The chrome mixer faucet is free-standing and a matte lacquered steel towel hanger is also part of the Nendo range.

3 alternative - Anahita cropped

Alternative Bathroom Company

The ultra contemporary Anahita, by London-based Alternative Bathroom Company, has a spiral shape inspired by swirling water. Designed by the Italian architect Marco Baxadonne, it is formed in the smooth and resistant material K-Plan. Available with a black or white exterior.

Part of the new DuraStyle collection for Duravit by Matteo Thun, the raised lip acts as a bath tidy and doubles as a grip for easy of movement.The DuraStyle range offer a mix of high design and performance with an achievable price tag.

5 Roca poss crop


Spanish bathroom company Roca has produced Circular with the option of being whirlpool, as well as a built in or corner tub in addition to free-standing, pictured. It features two headrests and a shelving unit on the outside for a clever storage solution.

6 Drummonds verdigre 1


Brit bath tub specialists Drummonds worked with furniture makers Costello & Welch, renowned for their fine art finishes, to apply new looks to its cast iron baths. This is the Humber bath with the Verdigris Aged finish achieved by spraying copper over bronze.

7 Jacuzzi


A non-whirlpool product by Jacuzzi®, Anima is a generously sized tub at 190 x 100 x 60 cm. It has a visible wooden frame with a teak, wengè or urban finish and also comes as a built in version to be installed at floor level.
