Studio Seven: London Design Festival 2018

A selection of new product launches you can discover at this year’s London Design Festival 2018

Bethan Gray – designjunction

Award-winning Welsh designer Bethan Gray will showcase her brand new collection of lighting, Victoria, at designjunction. The pieces feature a relief pattern hand-carved from Arabescato marble by Italian master craftsmen – inspired by Gray’s own original Victorian tea set. The Victoria lighting collection will compliment Bethan’s bespoke bar, designed in collaboration with whisky experts The Glenlivet, as part of the festival.

Savoir – Focus/18

Luxury bed maker, Savoir will launch its collaborative design with Fromental at Focus /18. KIKU, inspired by Japanese art is an elegant bed with panels – hand-painted with Fromental delicate silk wallpaper. The wallpaper displays a decorative motif of embroidered Japanese chrysanthemums  finished with a carefully positioned cushion upholstered in hand-painted and gilded Fromental silk.

Toru – London Design Fair

Barcelona-based design company Toru will be showcasing three pieces from its collection at London Design Fair, including the Clop chair. Based on the simplicity of a clog shoe, it combines a backrest made from a thick piece of folded vegetable tanned leather, solid oak, and brass to create a simple, natural piece. Other pieces include the Pony stool, a design inspired by horseback riding to create a sleek, minimal object formed of a steel frame combined with a leather seat.

Kiva – designjunction

Finnish furniture brand Kiva will launch a fully customisable shelving system featuring easy assembly and integrated lighting at designjunction. The unit comes with with patented push-n-lock systems and built-in low-voltage lights, and can be assembled without tool. It responds to the flexibility of personalised dimensions, ensuring the shelf adjusts to suit the space.

Artisans of Devizes – FOCUS/18

British designer Michael Angove will display a range of ceramic tiles in collaboration with Artisans of Devizes at FOCUS/18. Inspired by colourful patterns of British hedgerows to resemble a richly layered ecosystem bursting into life, the Living Wall collection will be displayed as a gallery experience.

Vincent Sheppard – 100% Design

Belgian furniture maker Vincent Sheppard will present a new collection of furniture at Decorex this year. The Roy Cocoon lounge chair frame is made from a polyethylene fiber wicker frame and an aluminium steel seat. Available in black and natural recycled resin colourways, the weather-resistant design can be used outdoors and measures 93cm-tall x 105cm-wide.

Bert Frank – Decorex

Robbie Llewellyn, co-founder of lighting brand Bert Frank, has designed a 15-piece furniture collection for Decca London, launching at Decorex. Designed for modern living, it echoes an industrial style and Mid-century modern designs. The Platform sofa with veneered back features a side table on either side  as well as a veneered back which can be used as a room divider.
