Renowned architect John Pawson has created a range of bathroom brassware for Dutch design brand Cocoon. The basin taps, floor spouts and shower heads are available exclusively from CP Hart and are now on display at the company’s flagship showroom in Waterloo.
True to Pawson’s minimalist ethos, the collection is characterised by simple shapes and exaggerated curves and features arching spouts juxtaposed with small rounded mixer handles for a dramatic aesthetic. The entire range is made from marine-grade stainless steel and is available in three colours: brushed stainless steel, brushed gold and dark grey.
“We have created one-off items before, but not a whole collection,” Pawson said. “I wish we had done this years ago. There is a pleasing beginning and end to designing products, with a building it is less complete. It is nice to hold something in our hand and say ‘I cannot improve on that’.”
It was a conscious decision not to include accessories as part of the range.
Pawson explains: “I did wonder if we should do the whole shebang, but I think it would distract from the taps. The minimalist aesthetic has always appealed to me, when I was growing up I just felt better without stuff, existing in an uncluttered space.”
