May 2018: Environment Secretary Michael Gove has launched a new clean air strategy to tackle pollution. The strategy document sets out how it will reduce human exposure to particulate matter pollution. One of the main concerns were the emissions from burning wood and coal to heat a home. The cleanest domestic fuels will be available in the future as they produce less smoke, less soot, and more heat. “[The] Government cannot act alone in tackling air pollution,” said Gove. “Our strategy sets out how we will work with businesses, farmers, industry and households to develop innovative new solutions to reduce emissions. It also highlights how we can all take action and play an important role in cleaning up our air.”
