June 2018: London Design Fair has unveiled its plans for the Material of the Year 2018 showcase, along with announcing the first batch of country design pavilions and exhibitors. After being introduced in 2017, Material of the Year is returning and focusing on plastic. Weez & Merl, Kodai Iwamoto Design, Charlotte Kidger, and Dirk Vader Kooij will present their visions of how the material can be reclaimed and repurposed. Returning for the second year is the Dutch Stuff country showcase at Shoreditch’s Old Truman Brewery. Its 30 participants – including Creative Chef, Lennartlauren, and Boris de Beijer – will be located on the second floor of the 600sqm hall. Other country showcases include the British Craft Pavilion and the Swedish Design Pavilion. New and returning exhibitors include ceramist Sue Pryke, Mumoon and Atlas Crafts.
