In this most unprecedented of years, Focus/20 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour has been recalibrated – a pioneering hybrid format will deliver a safe, inspiring physical experience to trade-only visitors and an online programme for a global audience. Says Becky Metcalfe head of content at DCCH
With an exceptional line-up of international designers, makers and thought leaders, it is a celebration of the human imagination and demonstrates the positive way in which design brings people together, wherever they are.
Focus/20 kickstarts with a virtual launch on Sunday 13 September; note that no showrooms will be open on this day. From Monday 14 to Friday 18 September, tailored visits will be offered to trade professionals only.
In the last months, decor has never come under greater scrutiny. People cooped up at home are craving change and professional designers have taken on new work and are completing existing projects. Trade-only visitors will be able to see in person those elements that are vital to their schemes: those inspiring first looks of the latest colours, patterns and materials, alongside key details like scale, craftsmanship and artisan finishes. Adding another layer, a curated selection of house guests in the Design Avenue, will bring fresh perspectives.
The new Focus/20 format aims to manage the number of people in the building, limit queueing and reduce contact. Sourcing will take place in the showrooms, which can more easily adhere to social distancing guidelines.
All trade-only visitors need to register and can make an appointment with the showrooms of their choice via a new booking facility, ensuring a productive visit.
